onsecrated in 1945, Fraternitas Lodge No. 6046 has been a proud and active part of Freemasonry in Rainham and Medway for almost eighty years. Meeting at the Howard Memorial Hall in Wigmore, the Lodge is recognised for its strong commitment to Masonic tradition, its welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and its dedication to charity and service within the local community.
As a Lodge within the Province of East Kent, Fraternitas brings together men of all ages and backgrounds, united by shared values, friendship, and a desire for personal development. Its membership reflects the diversity of the local area, creating a warm and supportive environment where lasting friendships are formed and new members are encouraged to grow in confidence and knowledge.
We formally meet 7 times per year on the:
Our regular meetings are held in the Temple and normally commence at 4:00pm.
Please note that our May meeting starts earlier, at 3:00pm.
Members customarily arrive at least 30 minutes before the published start time to allow for preparation, greetings, and the smooth conduct of Lodge business.
Following the Masonic work in the Temple, we retire to dine together, continuing the tradition of fellowship and good company. The evening’s formal proceedings are usually concluded by approximately 9:30pm.
After dining, the bar remains open until 11:30pm, providing members and guests the opportunity to continue socialising in a relaxed and convivial setting.
Fraternitas Lodge is deeply committed to charitable giving and community involvement at local, provincial, and national level. Members regularly support a wide range of good causes, including Step and Learn, the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, the Kenward Trust, Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation, local Sea Scouts, and the Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons Charity. This practical and hands-on approach to charity reflects the core Masonic principle of service and makes a genuine difference across Medway and beyond.
The Lodge also places great importance on personal development and Masonic learning. Through its Lodge of Instruction, regular meetings, and educational content, members are encouraged to build their knowledge of the Craft, take part in ceremonies, and progress at a pace that suits them. This supportive approach ensures that both newer and more experienced Brethren remain fully involved in the life of the Lodge throughout the year.
Fraternitas is equally known for its strong social side. Whether through festive boards, social gatherings, fundraising events, or community activities, there is a genuine sense of enjoyment and togetherness that extends beyond the Lodge room and includes partners, families, and friends.
Above all, Fraternitas Lodge lives up to its name – a true brotherhood. It is a place where integrity, friendship, respect, and service are not just words, but values that shape the experience of every member.
Visiting Brethren are always assured of a very warm welcome and those interested in Freemasonry in Medway will find a friendly and supportive introduction to Lodge life at Fraternitas.
