We formally meet 5 times per year on the:

  • 4th Friday in January
  •  4th Friday in March
  • 4th Friday in April
  •  4th Friday in September
  • 4th Saturday in November (I)

Our regular meetings are held in the Temple and normally commence at 6:30pm.

Members customarily arrive at least 30 minutes before the published start time to allow for preparation, greetings, and the smooth conduct of Lodge business.

Following the Masonic work in the Temple, we retire to dine together, continuing the tradition of fellowship and good company. The evening’s formal proceedings are usually concluded by approximately 10:30pm.

After dining, the bar remains open until 11:30pm, providing members and guests the opportunity to continue socialising in a relaxed and convivial setting.

At Fiat Lux Lodge, the experience of Freemasonry continues well beyond the ceremony itself. The friendships formed in the Lodge room are strengthened through a relaxed and enjoyable programme of social occasions held throughout the year in Medway, giving members, their families and guests the chance to spend time together in an informal and welcoming atmosphere.

Events such as our Ladies’ Night, White Table evenings and informal gatherings, including popular visits to local restaurants in and around Gillingham and the wider Kent area, are always well supported. These occasions are especially valued by newer members and prospective candidates, as they offer the opportunity to get to know the Brethren in a friendly setting and to see first-hand the strong sense of belonging that defines our Lodge.

Because we meet five times a year, staying connected in between meetings is important to us. Our active WhatsApp group keeps everyone in touch, sharing news, encouragement and the everyday moments that maintain the warm and supportive character of the Lodge.

Charity is another way in which we come together outside our formal meetings. Fiat Lux Lodge supports a range of local and national causes, and every member is able to contribute in a way that suits his circumstances, reinforcing the values of service and community that are central to Freemasonry in Kent.

One of our great strengths is the balance between experience and fresh enthusiasm. Newer and younger Brethren are encouraged to take part in the life of the Lodge, both socially and behind the scenes, while more experienced members offer guidance and support. This creates an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable, valued and able to progress at their own pace.

For anyone considering joining Freemasonry in Gillingham, Rainham or the wider Medway towns, these informal moments are often where the real connections are made. They show that Fiat Lux Lodge is not simply a place to attend meetings, but a community built on friendship, shared experiences and genuine enjoyment of each other’s company.

If you are curious about becoming a Freemason in Kent, you will find a warm welcome both inside and outside the Lodge room.
